1. LED TV with Full Screen of Colorful Vertical Bars Problem Solved!
Model: KONKA LED32F1160 LED TV
Panel: BOE HV320WX2
Symptom: Screen fully of colorful vertical bars/stripes
A lots of TV repairers, when they see the TV like this, will tell the customer this is a screen panel problem and not worth repairing or its beyond repair! This is not a joke, because I’ve seen this happen many times around my area here. I also find lots of TV's with this symptom inside a “Recycle Center”!
I’ve received an article written by one of my members who purchased my LCD/LED Screen Panel Repair Guide and other ebooks. He has successfully repaired a Konka LED32F1160 LED TV with a screen full of colorful vertical bars as per picture below:
As usual, learn from the ebooks. When the TV screen problem like this, first we check whether the T-con board top 5 voltages are present or not. If yes, then we will continue to checking their voltages and signals (for the Gate Drive side use) on the Source Drive board. If all voltages and signals are present, continue to check their Gate Driver side.
This HV320WX2 LED panel has 2 x Gate Driver (COF) ICs, or 2 Y-TABs. Their COFs IC part number is 8586-M. We can use the Bypass Modification method in LCD/LED Screen Panel Repair Guide, to do the troubleshooting and repairing. Refer to this part number COF IC testing point, found that the Y1 VGH (or as it is called "Von") voltage is missing! Normally it is about 24V. Different Panels have different voltages. As for this case, we can measure the Von testing point on the Source Driver board to know their exactly voltage.
Be careful to solder a thin wire (normally we will recommended to use transformer coil wire or laptop mainboard bypass wire, but this member was using normal wire) on the COF IC point.
To other end of the wire will solder onto the Source Driver board VON testing point there as per picture below:
Make sure everything is connected to their correct locations and points. Power on the TV. The LED Panel is working perfectly!
Conclusion:
With the above repair case, it will look like easy to repair lcd/led panel right? But before that, you need to know the steps and knowledge on how to repair LCD/LED Panel first, after that you know how to troubleshoot and repairing the panel.
2. How to Solve LED/LCD TV Oil Painting Display Problem
The customer bought in a LCD TV with the symptom like display oil painting. You can refer to the photo below:
This LCD TV no any logo in front of the cover and the rear cover also no any tv manufacturer details or the model too. But the customer said it is a Samsung LCD TV. After dismantle this LCD TV, their PCBs are use as photo below:
This LCD TV is using the universal mainboard, not the Samsung mainboard as usual we look inside the Samsung Tv. This mainboard part number is: VS.T811_V2.1. The photo of this universal mainboard:
This universal mainboard was using in many OEM brands LCD & LED TV. But this mainboard has a common fault it was the symptom of “Oily Painting Display” problem on the screen.
Normally this symptom was causing by the TV Panel setting problem. Because of this universal mainboard(VS.T811_V2.1) can support several model panels for LCD/LED TV, so it has panel setting inside their Factory Setting.
Use the Tv remote control and login to the tv Factory Setting as photo below:
Choose the “Panel Adjust” button, inside there to select “Ti Map 10 Bit T-=1”. Exit the factory setting and restart the Tv. The Tv is back to normal now.
Yes! this Tv is showing the Samsung logo on the screen. This is a clone or copycat Samsung LCD TV!

I think you will ask me, Kent how to login to their Factory Setting for this VS.T811_V2.1 Universal Mainboard? Yes this universal mainboard login to the factory setting is seldom known by the TV repairer. Here is the Factory Setting login method:
ð Use the Tv remote control and press the “SOURCE” button, after that press buttons 2, 0, 8 and it will show the Factory Setting page on the screen.
This universal mainboard is using in many OEM LCD/LED TV. So you can learn this method to repair different OEM brands LCD/LED TV now.
* Note: If the above TV problem solved, but after several days the same problem persist, you need to checking their eeprom and/or replace their flash memory with their orignal firmware. (Using the ISP Programmer).
3. After One Hour LCD TV Display Abnormal
Model: Hisense TLM-4236P LCD TV
Symptom: After an Hour, the TV Display Abnormal in all video inputs
Power on the TV, after about an hour, TV screen will show above photo symptom. Even try different video signals input like TV, AV and HDMI also same problem. So what will cause this TV display problem and how to troubleshoot it?
Regarding the photo symptom, it is looks like the Main board, LVDS cable, T-con board or the LCD Panel defective. Before that, checking all the PSU board outputs voltages are normal and stable. After that cleaning the LVDS cable contact pins with rubble eraser also no help.
When the TV screen problem appears, try to call out the OSD Menu, the OSD Menu can show perfectly in the screen. That’s mean their T-con board and LCD Panel is ok. So the problem was in their Main board!
Checking all the Main board LDO and DC-DC circuits, their voltage outputs are normal and stable. For more details on how to troubleshoot the TV Main board, please refer to V4.0 LCD LED TV Repair Tips ebook. When the screen problem appears, checking the U12 DDR-RAM their Vcc voltage input has stable 2.5V. Also check the U41 Vcc inputs also normal and stable. Suddenly touch the U41 heat sink and feel that extremely hot! When use a plastic rod to pressing U41, the TV screen is back to normal! Even pressing the U12 DDR-RAM, the TV screen also back to normal too. When pressing other components, they are nothing happen or change on it. Just U41 and U12 when pressing it, the TV screen problem gone! So suspect the both of these components are dry join and causing the TV screen problem. Especially the U41, when it’s dry join it will causing their loading heavily and the IC power consumption will increase and generate more heat on the heat sink there.
4. This LCD TV Display Problem Can’t Be Repair!
Model: Sharp LC-32L400M-BK LCD TV
Symptom: Display Problem but Sound and Backlight Ok.
This Tv was brought from my repair friend. My friend’s complaint this TV symptom is display problem and suspects the T-con board is defective. So he asks me to help him solve this tv problem. Below is the TV display problem:
After saw this TV display symptom, from my experience so I can quickly judge this tv problem could be the T-con section or the lcd panel itself defective. After dismantle this TV, it was looks like this:
Since the LCD TV backlight lit, sound ok can be hear from the speakers and the Tv control buttons/keypad can be control, so suspect the problem is in the T-con board or lcd panel itself.
Because of this Tv T-con (Timing Control) section was build in the lcd panel Source Driver board there, so need to dismantle their lcd panel to checking the T-con section. Normally the Timing Control section is separated from the Panel to a board call T-CON board. If the T-con board, we can check their DC-DC voltages easily. But this Sharp lcd panel is different design, so most of the repairer when seen this type of lcd panel, they will just give up to repair and return back to the customer will lcd panel damage reason. If you have learn from my V3.0 LCD LED TV Repair Tips ebook (www.LCDRepairGuide.com), then you should know how to checking the T-con board or Timing Control section no wonder it is design in T-con board, LCD panel or in mainboard! You can use that knowledge to troubleshoot it. Below is the picture after dismantle this lcd panel:
After dismantle the lcd panel, their looks like the above picture. This lcd panel have 10 x Source Driver chips and 3 x Gate Driver chips. Below picture is this lcd panel part number:
Removed the metal shield, here is the location of T-con board + Source Driver Board:
Connected the lcd panel with mainboard, inverter board and Power Supply board (PSU) to checking the T-con section voltages. All the Vcc input and top 5 voltages are ok.
Because of these voltages normal, that’s mean their T-con DC-DC section is working properly. But why the display problem still persists? When look at the display problem, it was starting from the right hand side and then slowly to full screen. From here, I will try to checking the Gate Driver chips first. Found that G1 was extremely hot when touching their surface of the chip. Compare to other two Gate Driver chips, their temperature are normal and can be accepted. So suspect this G1 Gate Driver chip is defective!
The G1 Gate Driver chip has a little bend near the IC chip and this area is extremely hot! When spray some Coolant on it, the screen can show the display now! But with the horizontal line and can’t last long to hold it, and then back to same display symptom again. You can see the picture below:
So this LCD TV problem can’t be repair and I return it back to my friend and told him what’s wrong about this Tv.
Conclusion: I can learn something from this repair case. Can this LCD Panel be repair! Actually the answer is YES! If you have this Gate Driver Chip part and have the TAB/COF machine, so this symptom can be repair and problem solve.

After re-solder U41 and U12 both IC, testing this TV about 7 hours also no problem. Finally this TV screen problem solved!
